Have Fun With History is a website with both non-fictional and fictional movie versions of American history. There are also a few interactives on the site.
The top page has a gallery of highlighted videos. Below, you can see your choices: Topics, People Timeline, Events Timeline, and History in a Minute.
The top page also has a This Day in History section, which links to information on an external site:
There are only four interactive Activities and they’re not particularly innovative, but they could lead you to interesting research questions. There are also some links to activities on external sites.
It would be good if the movies had subtitles for language learners. And the timelines stop with Reagan (the 1980s) and the 1963 March on Washington. But for people who want to learn a little more about the history of the United States with a focus on visuals and videos and just a little bit of reading, it’s a good resource.
It would be great to see a site like this in English for Japanese history! Anyone feeling up to the challenge?
