Portland’s Japantown Revealed is a free iBook available for download through the iTunes store (viewable on Macs but best on iPad). Learn about the Japanese community who lived in Portland, Oregon from the 1890s to World War II.

The photo reveals are wonderfully interactive, but they only work on the ipad. (You can still see the before and after on the Mac, by clicking “reveal”.)
I learned about this iBook on the author’s website. He’s a teacher, and this iBook is a great inspiration for what interactive books and textbooks can be like.
There’s an app, too. It doesn’t have the same interactional functions as the iBook, but there’s a photo gallery and a map with highlighted spots.
