You can listen to short passages in a variety of Englishes on English Listening. Subscriptions are not free, but you can try the site without subscribing, and 12 of the passages are available without paying any money.
Choose a passage from the left side. As you can see in the key, the length of the passage is indicated by a blue line, and the speed is indicated by the pink/red arrows.
After you choose a story, you can listen to the recording as many times as you want, see the transcript, and take a comprehension test:
I found the site to be a little bit slow, but it’s another place to get a little listening practice. I’m not sure that it’s worth $3 a month for the subscription, as there are other free sites out there too, but if there was a similar site in Japanese, with interesting topics and a variety of dialects, I might consider it … business opportunity, anyone?
