NPR (National Public Radio)’s World Story of the Day introduces one news story each day, focusing on one topic in the world. You can listen to the story on the site (or as a podcast). You can read the story (the same ideas but not exactly what you hear), and/or the transcript (exactly what you hear). The stories are short (between 5-10 minutes), so they’re good for a daily dose of listening (and reading) practice about what’s happening around the world.
