Listen to or watch formal debates on Intelligence Squared. Before the debate, the audience is asked to vote. The debate then starts with each side explaining their main points, followed by a chance to question the speakers and for rebuttals. Afterwards, the audience is asked to vote again. The side who has swayed the most voters (persuaded the most people to vote for them) wins.
It’s available in podcast form, so I listened to a debate about not eating meat (“Don’t eat anything with a face”) while commuting the other day. The debate was very thought-provoking and I found myself being persuaded by both sides, but one side more than the other.
