Forvo is a pronunciation guide website. If you’re wondering how to pronounce a word in English (or any of 305 other languages), this site will help.
The pronunciation sound clips are sent in by volunteers around the world. In fact, if you want to help out and pronounce some words and submit them to the site, give it a try. You don’t have to sign up to listen to the sound clips, but you do if you want to contribute your own pronunciations. Sites like this grow because people are willing to take the time to help out the community.
For instance, I think it would be very helpful for the world to know how most Japanese people pronounce “McDonald’s”. See how 4 native English speakers (with different accents) pronounce it. The 4th one is cute because it sounds like a child of about 4 or 5 years old. Poor kid got a negative vote, though.
There is a listing for マック in the Japanese section, but not yet for マックドナルド。
And if you can’t find the word you’re looking for, send them a request.
